A riveting drama about a divorcing couple whose son goes missing. On the one hand, a satisfying police procedural on the other hand we can discern a metaphor for the state of the Russian nation as the fractious parents seem to prioritise their own interests and material issues in spite of the crisis of their lost boy. Striking visuals and cinematography, atmospheric sound design and intelligent screenplay. A film not to miss from the multi-award winning director of Leviathon and The Return. Already gathering awards (Cannes Jury Prize, London Film Festival Best Film) this has all the signs of being an important film.
