Enchanting, funny eco-thriller from director Benedikt Erlingsson (WFC favourite Of Horses and Men, Naglinn). Choir teacher by day, green activist by night, Halla takes a stand against big business as she battles to rid the Icelandic highlands of an aluminium plant. Against a stunning but realistic portrayal of the Icelandic landscape, at times foggy and indistinct at others majestic, Halla battles with drones and power cables fighting the good fight for the environment, while sacrificing a personal project. A wonderful watch and special mention goes to Davíð Þór Jónsson’s score, listen as it almost becomes a character in its own right.
‘Spins gold from several contemporary fixations … Erlingsson weaves a captivating dark comedy from urgent, quite chilling issues.’
